FAVE BIRTHDAY GIFT

Oh sorry Niko, i almost forgot today's theme...i'm already late for this post coz it's 12:40am here now....but better late than totally forget.....hehehe

Well, speaking of favorite gift...i only had one treasured birthday gift....and that was my C168 Motorolla Mobile phone which was given by a black american friend whom i met online 5 years back. Haven't heard from him for a year and then the other day i saw his new born baby girl with his Filipina wife.

But sad to say...this gift is nonfunctional already....my hubby smash it to the wall last year...huhuhu

SEASON'S SILHOUETTE SKY

It is only during this season that you can see a formation of clouds and a silhouette sky. Just like the other day, I took a taxi in going home and i told the driver to take Etihad Road.

Then I was telling him that the weather was so nice and it's best to spend time at the park when i noticed the sunset. I love it! It reminds me of home!

BE THANKFUL

Thanks for not having
Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire.
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?

Thanks for lacking knowledge
Be thankful when you don't know something,
for it gives you the opportunity to learn.

Thanks for difficult times
Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.

Thanks for limitations
Be thankful for your limitations,
because they give you opportunities for improvement.

Thanks for challenges
Be thankful for each new challenge,
because it will build your strength and character.

Thanks for mistakes made
Be thankful for your mistakes.
They will teach you valuable lessons.

Thanks for exhaustion
Be thankful when you're tired and weary,
because it means you've made the effort.

Thanks for setbacks
It's easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who
are also thankful for the setbacks.

Thanks for troubles
Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles,
and they can become your blessings.

EFREN PEƑAFLORIDA NAMED CNN HERO 2009

Photo from here

If most Filipinos rejoiced last week for Manny Pacquiao's victory, today is another reason to rejoice coz Efren Penaflorida won the CNN Hero of the Year last night at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.

I voted for him the day he was shown on TFC, so now i feel like i was a part of his victory also. I am preparing for our dinner when my hubby's cousin called me telling that Efren PeƱaflorida named CNN Hero 2009. Feeling not contented on what i have read from Yahoo, i search for more sites stating that he really won....and yes he WON.

I feel so proud of him. I hope there will be more like him in the Philippines.

For more info about him visit CNN

NEW RESIDENCE VISA

Thanks God i receive my passport now with my new residence visa. It took as a month processing for it. First we were fined at the Ministry of Labour for the delays of my labor application, then followed by the requirements (photos of all employees plus the signage of the compange) of the sponsor as required by Immigration as per their new rule. We had to pass a new set of photos since the first photos i submitted was rejected because i was the subject from all the photos taken from each table of employees.

Again it's a 3 years contract which i'm planning not to finish coz i want to look for another job which offers a better pay after a year maybe...i should have done it before renewing my visa but because of recession i thought that it was not the best time to look for another job.

FAVORITE PASS TIME

It's Thursday and its girls talk time....like as usual I’m working half day. Well, for someone who's having 1 day off in a week is quite difficult to have more pass time like those who are having 2 days off. For me, weekend is just enough to do all the household chores...cleaning our cute and small space (room) while our clothes is running on the automatic washing machine. Then on friday, i've got to iron the clothes and buy some groceries...

So i only have a little time for myself and that's only on the friday afternoon where i spent it mostly watching a television/movie while eating fruits.

Then after watching, i've got to sleep for an hour and around 6 or 7pm i have to prepare for our meal and all the things we needed by tomorrow. And if i'm not sleeping you'll see me doing my nails, my eyebrows and hot oil treatment for my hair. Sometimes were having a little walk around the area after dinner esp. now that the weather is good.

Wish i have more time to do some other things...i miss reading books, visiting friends and doing some of the hobbies i used to do before.
Oh by the way, i'm doing my blog at work including facebook, friendster, multiply and online movie/games.

BALLROOM DANCE SHOES

Tired of a monotonous life? Yeah, I am! I hate my everyday’s life….though sometimes we go out also. But it’s really boring to wake up early in the morning to go to work and rush to go home in the afternoon to prepare our meal for the dinner. I think it would be good if I have two days off….at least I can spare the other day for any entertaining activity. One day off is just enough to do all the house chores.

I miss the old times when I was still having some short classes from Filipino Computer Club and Overseas Pinoy Professional Photographers Society and the weekend prayer activity of Singles for Christ- Dubai. Now i can't take any classes anymore coz aside from being a career woman i'm a housewife to my hubby who came last year. And even if i wanted to...he won't allow me.

I'm thinking to go back dancing early next year. I hope by that time hubby would allow me... that's why as early as of now i'm trying to find a ballroom dance shoes to use...though i still have two pairs but it's a bit worn out now so i guess i really have to buy for new one...good thing i found George's Dance Shoes wherein their passion is dancing and their knowledge and ardor for dance fuels their creativity and is expressed in their shoes.

So wish me luck next year...i'll show you some of my moves when i got the chance.

ATTACHED TOES AND EXTRA TOENAILS

This will be the first time sharing this thing about me online ….thought it’s known by relatives and close friends.

I can vividly remember my classmates during grade school on how they tease me about my attached toes and extra toenails esp. when we had a fight due to some reason. Often times I would go home crying and when I reach home my mom would ask me why?...then I would just say it’s because they tease me about my toes. …and she would say “don’t mind them”

When you’re young you tend to ask so many questions to your parents which sometimes irritate them. So one time, I ask my mom what might be the reason why I have my toes different from my siblings and classmates. And she told me that during her conception, she wanted to eat that twin banana she saw on the nearby store but when she comes back to buy it….the banana is already sold out. A superstitious belief which I don’t know if you guys heard about such kind of story also. And then most of the old folks who saw my toes, they would say “that’s your lucky charm and it will bring you success”.

I grew up using slip on slipper just to hide my toes. I hate people seeing it! I’m afraid they will tease me like what my classmates did. Before I thought I was a mutant... for having undeveloped finger toes but then last year I read from one of my schoolmates’ blog about her daughter’s extra finger. I’ve known that it is commonly called Polydactyly, a congenital physical anomaly in humans having supernumerary fingers or toes.

For some who might have the same deformity in your body...don't feel bad coz you're lucky as what the old folks says...

EARLY MORNING COLD BREEZE

I think winter has finally arrived.

While walking going to the bus stop today morning ....i feel like ooh! ...i simply love the early morning cold breeze that touches my arms...how i wish the weather for the whole year in Dubai is the same as today. The temperature is lovely and the glorious dubai winter stretches ahead of us. Now is the time to rediscover parks, long afternoon walks like we did last night with my hubby. We went to Spinneys Karama , bought an ice cream cone, apple juice and doughnut and we eat it while going back to our flat. It took us 30 minutes before we reach home coz we sat down at the benches along the road while eating what we bought.

For some people who think that the desert is hot for the whole year round.....nah...that's a misconception...usually desert is a dry place but it can be cold also. Dubai is hot in summer...as in really hot...esp from June, July to August but it has winter also....

During the winter season in Dubai...it is not really necessary to have such heavy winter clothes...the average low temperature in December ranges from 15C to 17C, with the average highs still up between 24C and 26C.....it's like you were just in the Philippines. There is no need for so many winter coats...i for example only had my boots or close shoes and about 5 or seven not so thick jackets and one coat which i use during the "simbang gabi" at Saint Mary's Church.

But this time i'm planning to buy new one coz i've been using those for two years almost. Haven't check the market but i guess i'll try to buy from Brand For Less or maybe from any other branded shops which offer a cheap products....and the last choice is UK.......ayyyy! Hehehe

FAVE CHOCOLATE

It was only when i came to Dubai that i started to like chocolates....not to eat it but to simply have it displayed on my room for quite sometimes till my hubby eat it all. I'm suffering migraine attack each time i eat chocolate so even if i wanted to eat some i'd rather put it on display.

My hubby's cousin is working in Patchi (a chocolate brand from Lebanon which is closer to Swiss or Belgium style chocolate) and he always bring home some chocolates. I guess I'm the only one in our flat who doesn't like chocolates so for the purpose of this girls talk i want to share with you guys that among the chocolates i have tasted it's only Patchi that i liked.

NEW MAKE UP KIT

Hahaha! Out of the blue I bought this new make up kit.

Recently I have been watching that make up tutorial in You Tube and I was fascinated on how they applied make up on their faces. So with my new make up kit I can try it now…

Well, actually I don't really apply make up everyday. I go to work with just a light foundation and johnson baby powder plus forever living lip gloss. So i think i can only used this make up kit for fun or if we're going to a party...

MY CITY MY METRO

Atlast i got a photo at Dubai Metro! My friend and I went to Deira City Centre the other day without any plan of shopping but to take the metro from there to Burjuman Center.

ONE THOUSAND DIRHAMS

Wooo! I received AED1000.00 (Php 12,800.00) from the Captain of one of our vessel as bonus for temporarily deposit of my passport to Dubai Port & Customs office in exchange of his passport so he can go home. His vessel met an accident 4 months back and till now the case is pending at Dubai Court. With that, all crew can't leave the country because their documents is kept on hold at the Port. But with some consideration like exchanging the passport of other employee of the Company, he can now take a vacation for a month.

I don't know what makes him give me that amount...(anyway thanks to him...i badly needed money today)...cases like that shouldn't be rewarded anymore since we're working on the same company...but maybe he was just so happy that through me he can now see his family after a year and half...
